Warm Spiced Apple Cider Delight

  • Total Time: 20-25 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

Get ready to embrace the cozy embrace of autumn with this delightful Warm Spiced Apple Cider Delight. It’s a hug in a mug, brimming with the comforting aromas of sweet apples, warming spices, and a touch of citrusy brightness that makes every sip feel like a warm blanket. This recipe is wonderfully simple, making it an absolute must-have for your fall gatherings or quiet evenings at home.

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 gallon (8 cups) high-quality, unfiltered, non-alcoholic apple cider
1/2 cup fresh cranberries (optional, for tartness and color)
1 whole orange, thoroughly washed and thinly sliced into rounds
2 whole cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon whole cloves
1 whole star anise
12 tablespoons pure maple syrup (optional, depending on the sweetness of the cider)

Instructions

1. Pour the apple cider into a large pot.

2. Add the cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and star anise. You can put the cloves and star anise in a tea ball or cheesecloth for easier removal.

3. Add the orange slices and cranberries to the pot.

4. Heat the cider over medium heat until it gently simmers. Avoid a rolling boil.

5. Lower the heat to the minimum setting and let the cider steep for 20 to 30 minutes to infuse the flavors.

6. Taste the cider and add maple syrup if you desire more sweetness.

7. Remove the spices and fruit solids using a strainer or slotted spoon, keeping a few orange slices for appearance if you like.

8. Serve the hot spiced cider in mugs right away.

Notes

Always simmer the cider gently. A rolling boil can make the cider taste cooked and can evaporate some of the delicate aromatics.

Fresh is Best: While ground spices can be used in a pinch, whole spices offer a cleaner, less cloudy flavor and a beautiful presentation.

Quality Matters: The better the quality of your apple cider, the better your final Warm Spiced Apple Cider Delight will be. Look for 100% pure apple cider.

Taste and Adjust: Once strained, give your cider a taste. If you desire more sweetness, stir in a little honey or maple syrup, or if you want more spice, let it steep for a few more minutes.
