Sweet and Spicy Baked Brie Delight

Sweet and Spicy Baked Brie Delight

  • Total Time: 30-35 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings 1x

Description

A delightful baked Brie appetizer with a sweet and spicy honey drizzle, crunchy nuts, and fresh thyme, perfect for any gathering or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale

1 wheel (8 oz) Brie cheese
3 tbsp pure honey
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1 tsp hot sauce or sriracha
1/4 cup sliced almonds or chopped walnuts
1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves
1 French baguette, sliced and toasted
Apple slices for serving

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and prepare a small baking dish.
Lightly score the top of your Brie wheel in a crosshatch pattern.
Place the Brie in the prepared baking dish and bake for 15-20 minutes until wonderfully soft and gooey.
While the Brie is baking, gently warm honey in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl.
Stir in crushed red pepper flakes and hot sauce or sriracha, let sit for a few minutes.
Once the Brie is baked, transfer it to a platter.
Generously drizzle with the infused honey.
Sprinkle with sliced almonds or chopped walnuts, and fresh thyme leaves.
Serve immediately with toasted baguette slices and apple slices.

Notes

The rind of Brie is completely edible and adds a pleasant texture and flavor to the overall dish.
Softness is Key: The goal is a wonderfully soft, almost liquid center. If your Brie feels very firm, it may need a few extra minutes in the oven.
Gentle Warming: When warming the honey, do so gently. You don’t want to boil it, just make it more fluid and receptive to the spices.
Toasting the Nuts: For an even richer flavor and better crunch, lightly toast your almonds or walnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for a few minutes until fragrant before adding them to the finished Brie.
Serving Temperature: This dish is best enjoyed immediately after it comes out of the oven, while the Brie is at its meltiest.
Can I make the honey drizzle ahead of time? Yes, you can prepare the infused honey mixture up to a day in advance. Store it in an airtight container at room temperature. Gently warm it before drizzling over the baked Brie.
What if my Brie doesn’t melt evenly? Sometimes, depending on the Brie, it can melt more on one side. Don’t worry too much about it! The delicious flavors will be there regardless. You can use a spoon to spread any particularly oozy bits around the platter if desired.
