Description
Sweet and Savory Sausage Cheese Egg Roll-Ups are a fantastic appetizer or breakfast option that balances the richness of sausage and cheese with a delightful crunch from the wrapper. They’re incredibly satisfying and surprisingly easy to whip up, making them a guaranteed crowd-pleaser for any occasion. Imagine biting into a golden-brown, crispy exterior that gives way to a warm, gooey center bursting with savory sausage and melted cheese.
Ingredients
5 large eggs
1 can (8 ounces) Pillsbury refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
8 breakfast sausage links
4 slices cheddar cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Crack eggs into a bowl, season with salt and pepper, and whisk until smooth.
2. Cook sausage links in a skillet over medium heat until browned and cooked through, then set aside.
3. Pour beaten eggs into the same skillet over medium-low heat, stirring gently until just set but still creamy. Remove from heat.
4. Preheat oven to 375F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease.
5. Unroll crescent dough, separate into 8 triangles. Place cheddar cheese and a spoonful of scrambled eggs on the wide end of each, then top with a sausage link.
6. Roll each crescent dough triangle from the wide end to the point, enclosing the filling. Place seam-side down on the baking sheet, spaced apart.
7. Bake for 11-14 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
8. Let cool for 2-3 minutes before serving warm.
Notes
Sealing is Key: Make sure to seal the egg roll wrappers tightly. A little water dabbed on the edge is the easiest way to get them to stick. This prevents the filling from leaking out during baking.
Don’t Overfill: Resist the urge to pack too much filling into each wrapper. Overfilling can make it difficult to roll them securely and may cause them to burst during baking.
Warm and Gooey: Serve these immediately after baking for the best texture experience – that glorious moment when the crisp wrapper meets the molten cheese center is truly special.
Consistent Browning: If some roll-ups are browning faster than others, you can rotate the baking sheet halfway through the baking time or even carefully move the more done ones to a rack to finish while the others continue baking.
