Ingredients
16 oz (2 cans) refried beans
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup sour cream
1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning mix
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded lettuce
1/2 cup diced tomatoes
1/4 cup sliced black olives
1/2 cup guacamole (for spider web design)
Sour cream in a piping bag (for spider web piping)
Instructions
Distribute refried beans evenly over the base of your chosen serving dish.
In a separate bowl, blend softened cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning until smooth, then spread this mixture over the beans.
Arrange shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and cheddar cheese around the perimeter, leaving the middle clear.
Cover the center area with guacamole and then pipe concentric circles of sour cream on top.
Use a toothpick to draw lines from the center outward, creating a spider web effect.
Decorate with black olives to resemble spiders and enjoy with tortilla chips.
Notes
Make sure cream cheese is softened to room temperature for the smoothest, creamiest layer.
Full-fat sour cream will give the creamiest texture, but light works too. For piping, a slightly thicker sour cream is best.
Add a dash of hot sauce to the cream cheese mixture or sprinkle some diced jalapeños on top for an extra kick.
Finely diced red onion, bell peppers, or corn would be lovely additions scattered over the cheese layer.
Monterey Jack, a Mexican blend, or even pepper jack cheese can be used in place of or in addition to cheddar.
For a heartier dip, you can layer seasoned ground beef or turkey over the refried beans before adding the cream cheese mixture.
