Description
This Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy is the ultimate weeknight solution, offering tender, succulent chicken bathed in a rich, savory gravy.
Ingredients
3 to 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 (10.5-oz) can Unsalted Cream of Chicken Soup
2 (0.87-oz) envelopes of chicken gravy mix
1/2 cup water or chicken broth, optional
hot steamed rice
Instructions
Place chicken breasts in your slow cooker. Season with salt and pepper if you like.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup, chicken gravy mix, and water if you are using it. Pour this mixture over the chicken.
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours.
Before serving, shred or break the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Serve the chicken and gravy over hot steamed rice.
Notes
Don’t Overcook: While slow cooking is forgiving, checking the chicken at the 4 hour mark is a good idea to ensure it remains juicy and doesn’t become dry.
Shredding: If the chicken is very tender, you can easily break it apart with a wooden spoon rather than forks for a more rustic texture.
Adjusting Consistency: If the gravy is thicker than you prefer after shredding, simply stir in an extra tablespoon or two of warm water or broth until it reaches your desired silky consistency.
