Description
This Salted Caramel Pretzel Bark is a symphony of sweet and salty, crunchy and chewy, all coming together in one delightful bite. It’s the perfect homemade candy to whip up for holidays, gifts, or just because you deserve a little something special.
Ingredients
• 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
• 8 oz pretzels
• 11 oz Kraft caramel
• 2 tbsp heavy cream
• sea salt (for sprinkling)
Instructions
Prepare a large baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
Spread two-thirds of the melted chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet. Arrange the pretzels over the chocolate, gently pressing them down.
Combine the caramels and heavy cream in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 2 minutes. Drizzle this mixture evenly over the pretzels.
Drizzle the remaining melted chocolate over the caramel and pretzels, then sprinkle with sea salt. Allow to set in the refrigerator until firm, or at room temperature for about 2 hours, before cutting and serving.
Notes
When melting chocolate, it’s crucial to do so gently. Overheated chocolate can seize or become grainy. Stirring frequently helps to ensure even melting.
Don’t be afraid to overlap pretzels slightly to create a solid base, but also leave some gaps for the caramel to peek through.
For a beautiful drizzle effect, you can place the caramel and remaining chocolate in piping bags (or even small plastic bags with a corner snipped off) to control the flow.
If you’re short on time, the refrigerator is your best friend for setting the bark. However, letting it set at room temperature can sometimes result in a slightly less brittle texture.
