One Pan Egg Roll in a Bowl

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A delicious and wholesome one pan wonder featuring savory ground beef, crisp vegetables, and a zesty sauce, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale

1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
1 Tbsp. finely chopped peeled ginger
1 lb. ground beef
1 Tbsp. toasted sesame oil
1/4 head of green cabbage, thinly sliced
1/2 yellow onion, thinly sliced
1 cup shredded carrot
1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 Tbsp. sriracha
Kosher salt
1 scallion, thinly sliced
1 Tbsp. toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant, about 1 minute.

Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.

Push the beef to one side of the skillet and add sesame oil to the other side.

Add cabbage, onion, and carrot, then mix everything together with the beef.

Stir in soy sauce and sriracha, and cook until the cabbage is tender, about 5 to 8 minutes.

Season with salt to taste.

Serve the mixture in bowls, topped with scallions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Consistent Slicing: Aim to slice your cabbage and onion into uniform strips so that everything cooks at the same rate.

Brown the Beef Well: Don’t rush the browning of the beef, as that Maillard reaction adds essential flavor to the entire bowl.

Fresh Aromatics: Using freshly grated or finely chopped ginger and garlic makes a world of difference compared to dried powders.
