Description

Juicy beef patties infused with earthy mushroom flavor, topped with melty Swiss cheese, grilled onions, and fresh mushrooms for a restaurant-quality burger experience. Perfectly balanced and packed with umami-rich flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 blend)
2 oz (50g) dried mushrooms (porcini or morel)
6 oz (170g) shiitake mushrooms, sliced
1 small onion, thinly sliced
4 oz (120g) Swiss cheese, sliced
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (alcohol-free if necessary)
1 tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
6 burger buns
Optional: 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (for heat) or turkey bacon crumbles

Instructions

Grind dried mushrooms into a fine powder using a spice grinder or mortar and pestle.
In a bowl, combine ground beef, mushroom powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Lightly mix until just combined.
Shape the mixture into 4 oz (120g) patties, making a small indentation in the center to prevent puffing.
Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Add olive oil, then sear patties for 3-4 minutes per side until browned and cooked to desired doneness.
Add a slice of Swiss cheese to each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
In the same skillet, cook sliced onions and shiitake mushrooms over medium heat with a bit of olive oil, stirring occasionally until tender (5-7 minutes). Season with salt and pepper.
To serve, assemble patties in buns with the mushroom-onion topping, adding turkey bacon (if using) or desired condiments.

Notes

Let patties rest for 5 minutes before serving for juicier results.
Substitute dried mushrooms with 4 oz (120g) finely chopped fresh mushrooms if preferred.
Use brioche or whole-wheat buns for enhanced flavor.
Ensure Worcestershire sauce is alcohol-free if stricter halal standards apply.
