Hot Honey Cauliflower Bites

Hot Honey Cauliflower Bites

  • Total Time: Approx. 1 hour 10 minutes - 1 hour 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings

Description

These Hot Honey Cauliflower Bites are the perfect combination of sweet heat and satisfying crunch, making them an irresistible appetizer or a delightful addition to any meal.

Ingredients

• 1 head of Cauliflower, chopped in medium chunks
• 3 cups bread crumbs
• 3/4 cup organic all-purpose flour
• 1 cup Almond milk
• 1/4 cup hot honey ((I love Mike’s Hot Honey!))
• 1 Tbsp red pepper flakes
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• 1/2 tsp sea salt + black pepper, each
• 1 tsp smoked paprika
• 6 Tbsps unsalted butter
• 4 garlic cloves, minced
• 1/4 cup raw honey
• 1 tsp cayenne pepper
• 1 tsp chili powder
• 1 tsp smoked paprika
• 1/2 tsp onion powder
• 1 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
2. Whisk together almond milk, flour, hot honey, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes in a medium bowl until smooth.
3. Place bread crumbs in a separate bowl.
4. Dip each cauliflower chunk into the batter, shaking off excess, then toss in the bread crumbs. Arrange the coated cauliflower in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, about an inch apart.
5. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the cauliflower is golden brown and looks crunchy. If needed, broil for an additional 5-10 minutes until crispy.
6. While the cauliflower bakes, combine all sauce ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Whisk until it boils, then reduce heat to low-medium and simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.
7. Once the cauliflower is crisp, remove it from the oven and toss with the prepared sauce until evenly coated. Return the sauced cauliflower to the baking sheet and broil for 5-6 minutes.
8. Serve the cauliflower bites on salads, in tacos, over pasta or pizza, with quinoa or rice, or with a vegan ranch dip.
9. Enjoy!

Notes

Uniform Size: Try to chop your cauliflower into pieces that are roughly the same size. This helps them cook evenly.

Don’t Skip the Broil: The final broil is essential for caramelizing the sauce and achieving that irresistible sticky glaze. Keep a close watch during this step as it can go from perfect to burnt very quickly.

Sauce Consistency: If your sauce seems too thick after simmering, you can whisk in a teaspoon or two of water or almond milk to loosen it up. If it’s too thin, simmer for a few more minutes.

Cooling the Sauce: Letting the sauce cool slightly before tossing with the cauliflower helps it adhere better and prevents the batter from getting too soggy.
