Easy Pumpkin Dump Cake Recipe

Easy Pumpkin Dump Cake Recipe

  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Description

This Easy Pumpkin Dump Cake is a warm hug in a dish, bursting with classic pumpkin spice flavors and a delightfully tender crumb. It’s a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, perfect for cozy nights or any gathering where a touch of sweetness is needed. Imagine a perfectly golden cake, nestled atop a creamy pumpkin filling, with a buttery, pecan-studded topping – pure autumn bliss.

Ingredients

Scale

1 can (15 oz) pure pumpkin puree
1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
3 large eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/2 tsp salt
1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, sliced into thin square pats
1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and prepare a 9×13 inch baking dish.
In a generous bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, eggs, sugar, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, and salt until well blended.
Pour this pumpkin mixture into the prepared dish.
Evenly scatter the dry yellow cake mix over the pumpkin layer, then sprinkle with chopped pecans.
Arrange the butter slices on top, covering the cake mix as much as possible.
Bake for 50 to 60 minutes until beautifully golden and set in the center, then serve warm.

Notes

To ensure your cake mix is well-moistened and cooks evenly, try to cover as much of the dry mix as possible with the butter slices. Don’t worry if there are a few small gaps; the butter will melt and spread.
Always preheat your oven fully to 350 degrees Fahrenheit before you begin assembling the cake. This ensures even baking from the start.
You’ll know your pumpkin dump cake is ready when the edges are set and lightly golden, and the center appears firm when gently jiggled. A toothpick inserted near the center should come out mostly clean, with perhaps a few moist crumbs attached.
If you notice the top of your cake browning too quickly before the center is set, you can loosely tent it with aluminum foil for the remainder of the baking time.
This cake is absolutely divine served warm, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully and the textures to be at their peak.
