Description
A quick and comforting meal featuring crispy French bread topped with garlic butter, tangy marinara, melted mozzarella, and savory beef pepperoni.
Ingredients
1 loaf French bread
2 garlic cloves, minced
4 Tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
1 cup marinara or pizza sauce
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella
16 to 22 beef pepperoni slices
2 Tbsp. finely grated Parmesan
Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
Finely chopped fresh basil, for serving
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400F.
Slice the French bread in half lengthwise.
Mix minced garlic and melted butter together and brush it over the cut sides of the bread.
Bake the bread for about 10 minutes until it is lightly toasted.
Spread marinara sauce over the top, then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese, pepperoni slices, Parmesan cheese, and red pepper flakes.
Bake for another 10 minutes until the cheese is melted.
Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
Notes
Don’t skip the first 10-minute toast. This step is the secret to a pizza that holds its shape and keeps a satisfying crunch even after the sauce and cheese are added.
When spreading your marinara, leave a tiny border around the edges of the bread to keep the pizza easy to handle and prevent the sauce from spilling over the sides.
If you notice the cheese browning too quickly, you can move the baking sheet to a lower rack for the final few minutes.
