Description
Whip up these Easy Crockpot Little Smokies for a crowd-pleasing appetizer that’s sweet, savory, and slightly tangy. Perfect for parties, potlucks, or any gathering, these flavor bombs are incredibly simple to make and will disappear quickly!
Ingredients
2 packages (12 oz each) mini beef cocktail sausages or turkey cocktail sausages
1 bottle (18 oz) barbecue sauce
1 jar (12 oz) grape jelly
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
Arrange the mini sausages in your slow cooker.
Combine the barbecue sauce, grape jelly, Dijon mustard, and red pepper flakes in a bowl and mix well.
Pour the prepared sauce over the sausages, making sure each one is well coated.
Cook on low for 2 to 3 hours or on high for 1.5 hours until warmed through and the sauce is bubbly.
Switch the cooker to warm for easy serving.
Notes
If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can uncover the slow cooker for the last 30 minutes of cooking on high, allowing some of the liquid to evaporate.
While the slow cooker is forgiving, avoid cooking much beyond the recommended times, especially on high, to prevent the sausages from becoming tough.
If you can, give the sausages a gentle stir every hour or so to ensure they are evenly coated and heated through.
Before serving, give the sauce a taste. If you want a bit more tang, add a tiny splash more Dijon; if you want more sweetness, a little more jelly can be stirred in.
