  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

Start your day with a burst of vibrant flavor and nourishing goodness! This Delightful Blackberry Smoothie Bowl is a beautiful and delicious way to enjoy a healthy breakfast, packed with antioxidants and natural sweetness. It’s so easy to whip up, making it perfect for busy mornings or a refreshing afternoon treat.

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup frozen blackberries (do not thaw)
1 large banana, peeled, sliced, and frozen
1/2 cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt (for thickness and protein)
1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
1 tablespoon chia seeds or flax seeds
1 teaspoon honey or agave syrup (optional)

For the Toppings:
1/4 cup granola
Fresh blackberries and raspberries
1 tablespoon unsweetened shredded coconut
1 teaspoon chia seeds

Instructions

1. Add frozen blackberries, frozen banana slices, Greek yogurt, almond milk, and 1 tablespoon of chia seeds to a high-speed blender. Using frozen fruit is key for a thick texture.

2. Blend on medium-high speed. You may need to pause and scrape down the sides or use a tamper to help blend the thick mixture.

3. Blend until the mixture is smooth, creamy, and very thick, like soft-serve ice cream. If needed, add almond milk one tablespoon at a time to help blending, but avoid making it too thin.

4. Taste the smoothie base. If the blackberries are quite tart, blend in the optional honey or agave syrup.

5. Pour the thick smoothie into a wide, shallow bowl, smoothing the top with a spoon.

6. Arrange your chosen toppings neatly over the smoothie bowl: granola in one section, fresh berries in another, a sprinkle of coconut, and a dusting of chia seeds.

7. Serve immediately with a spoon.

Notes

Frozen Fruit is Key: Always use frozen fruit for the base to achieve that ideal thick, spoonable consistency without watering it down with ice.

Blender Power: A high-powered blender will make this process much smoother, but most blenders can tackle it with a little patience and scraping.

Texture Control: If your smoothie mixture is too thin, add a few more frozen berries or banana chunks. If it’s too thick to blend, add milk just a tiny bit at a time until it moves.

Sweetness Adjustment: Taste the mixture before pouring it into the bowl. If it’s not sweet enough for your liking, a touch more honey or maple syrup can be blended in quickly.

Toppings Galore: Don’t be shy with the toppings! They add crucial texture, flavor, and visual appeal, transforming your simple smoothie into a delightful meal.
