Delicious Cheesy Sausage Balls

Delicious Cheesy Sausage Balls

  • Total Time: 40-42 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 40-50 balls

Description

Get ready for a delightful bite-sized treat that’s perfect for any occasion, from holiday gatherings to casual get-togethers. These cheesy sausage balls are incredibly easy to make and deliver an irresistible combination of savory sausage, melty cheese, and a hint of warm spice that will have everyone reaching for more.

Ingredients

• 1 lb mild or spicy turkey Italian sausage (or beef sausage), uncooked
• 2 cups Bisquick baking mix (or homemade pancake mix)
• 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
• 4 oz cream cheese, softened
• 1/2 tsp garlic powder
• 1/2 tsp onion powder
• 2 tbsp melted butter for brushing

Instructions

1. Prepare your oven to 375F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, mix together the uncooked sausage, Bisquick, shredded cheddar, softened cream cheese, garlic powder, and onion powder.

3. Blend everything until it forms a cohesive dough.

4. Shape the mixture into 1-inch balls, placing them about an inch apart on the prepared baking sheet.

5. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes, or until they are cooked through and nicely golden brown.

6. As soon as they come out of the oven, brush them with melted butter and serve them warm.

Notes

For even baking, try to make your sausage balls all about the same size, approximately 1 inch in diameter.

The sausage balls are ready when they are firm to the touch and have a nice golden-brown color. You can also cut one open to check that the inside is fully cooked.

While you want the ingredients to be well combined, avoid overmixing the dough, as this can lead to tougher sausage balls.

Lining your baking sheet with parchment paper makes for easy cleanup and prevents any sticking.
