Crispy & Flavorful Bang Bang Salmon Bites

  • Total Time: approximately 30 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 4

Description

Crispy and flavorful salmon bites coated in a sweet and spicy Bang Bang sauce, perfect as an appetizer or a meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon Bites:
1 ½ pounds salmon fillets (skin removed, cut into bite-sized pieces)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
Bang Bang Sauce:
½ cup mayonnaise
¼ cup Thai sweet chili sauce
1 tablespoon sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon lime juice

Instructions

Whisk together mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, and lime juice in a bowl. Set this sauce aside.

In a separate bowl, toss salmon bites with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper until coated.

Preheat your air fryer to 400F (200C) for around 3 minutes.

Cook salmon bites in a single layer in the air fryer basket for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway, until cooked through and crispy.

Serve the salmon bites on a platter, drizzled with the Bang Bang sauce, with extra sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

Don’t Overcrowd the Skillet: Cook the salmon in batches to ensure even cooking and crisping. Overcrowding will lower the oil’s temperature, resulting in soggy salmon.

Test the Oil: Before adding the salmon, test the oil’s temperature by dropping a small piece of cornstarch-coated salmon into the pan. It should sizzle immediately.

Doneness: Salmon is cooked through when it flakes easily with a fork. The internal temperature should be 145°F / 63°C.

Drain Excess Oil: After cooking, transfer the salmon to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Gentle Toss: When coating with the sauce, be gentle to avoid breaking up the crispy exterior.
