Description
These air fryer pizza meatball subs combine savory beef meatballs, melted mozzarella, garlic butter, and tangy pepperoni in soft hot dog buns. A quick, crowd-pleasing meal with classic pizza flavors.
Ingredients
16 frozen beef meatballs
8 hot dog buns
1/2 cup pizza sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup Beef pepperoni slices
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon chopped parsley
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 teaspoon olive oil (for garlic butter blend)
Instructions
Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C)
Place frozen meatballs in a single layer in the air fryer basket
Cook meatballs for 10 minutes until heated through
While meatballs cook, split hot dog buns and brush lightly with olive oil
In a small bowl, mix butter, garlic powder, and parsley
Once meatballs are done, spoon pizza sauce into each bun
Top with a meatball, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni slices
Spray the buns lightly with water to melt cheese
Return to air fryer and cook for 3-4 minutes until cheese melts
Brush tops with garlic butter mixture
Notes
For extra flavor, add a pinch of Italian seasoning
Use halal-certified pepperoni if available
Substitute mozzarella with provolone or a melting cheese blend
Sprinkle red pepper flakes for heat
