Air Fryer Jalapeño Poppers

Description

These Air Fryer Jalapeño Poppers are the ultimate crowd-pleasing appetizer that requires minimal effort and delivers maximum flavor. This recipe streamlines the classic party snack by using the air fryer, resulting in perfectly tender peppers and a molten, cheesy filling without the need for heavy breading or deep frying. Sharp cheddar, cream cheese, and savory spices are combined and air-fried until the skins are blistered and the centers are irresistibly gooey.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature (1/2 brick)
  • 1/2 cup freshly shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground paprika
  • 6 jalapeño peppers, halved lengthwise, seeds and ribs removed

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Equipment and Filling
Start by lightly greasing your air fryer basket with olive oil spray. In a large bowl, combine your room-temperature cream cheese, sharp cheddar, garlic powder, and paprika. Whisk or stir until the mixture is uniform and fluffy.

Step 2: Prep and Fill the Peppers
Halve your jalapeños lengthwise and carefully remove the seeds and ribs. Divide the cheese mixture evenly among the twelve halves, using about 1 tablespoon of filling per pepper depending on its size.

Step 3: Air Fry to Perfection
Arrange the filled peppers in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook at 375°F for 8-10 minutes. You are looking for the cheese to be completely melted and gooey and the jalapeño skins to be slightly blistered.

Step 4: Serve
Remove them carefully using tongs and serve immediately while the centers are hot and molten.

Notes

Storage and Reheating: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To restore the creamy texture and blistered skin, reheat them in the air fryer at 350°F for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is bubbly.

Control the Heat: To make these milder, ensure you scrape out every bit of the white pith (ribs) and seeds, as that is where the capsaicin is concentrated. For extra kick, leave a few seeds in the bottom of each pepper.

Variation: For a ‘Texas-style’ twist without the meat, stir in a teaspoon of smoked paprika or a dash of liquid smoke into the cheese mixture for a deep, smoky flavor profile.
