Ingredients
1 package (14.3 oz) Oreo cookies
8 oz cream cheese, softened
12 oz white chocolate melting wafers or almond bark
24 mini candy eyeball decorations
1 tsp vegetable oil
Instructions
Crush Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor.
Mix the cream cheese with the crumbs in the food processor until a smooth dough forms.
Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and arrange them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Chill the truffle balls in the freezer for 20 minutes until firm.
8. Melt the white chocolate with vegetable oil in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until it’s smooth.
Dip the frozen truffles into the melted white chocolate with a fork. Place them back on the parchment paper and gently press two candy eyes onto each truffle before the coating hardens.
Drizzle the leftover white chocolate over the truffles to create mummy bandage designs. Chill them for 15 minutes until the chocolate sets.
Notes
Ensure your cream cheese is fully softened. This makes a world of difference in achieving a smooth, homogenous truffle dough that won’t crumble.
For the smoothest truffle texture, make sure your Oreo crumbs are as fine as possible. A food processor is your best friend here.
Chilling the truffle balls before dipping is essential. It prevents them from melting or falling apart in the warm chocolate and makes them much easier to handle.
When melting the white chocolate, stir frequently and use short intervals. White chocolate can scorch easily, so patience is rewarded with a perfectly smooth coating.
Press the candy eyes onto the truffles while the white chocolate is still wet enough to hold them. If the chocolate starts to set too quickly, you can briefly warm the back of the candy eye with your fingertip to help it adhere.
For those mummy bandage drizzles, using a fork is easiest for a rustic look. If you want more precise lines, you can put a small amount of the melted chocolate into a small resealable bag, snip off a tiny corner, and pipe the lines.
