Description

This Stuffed Strawberry Cheesecake French Toast transforms a breakfast staple into a gourmet masterpiece. Thick slices of buttery brioche are sandwiched with a velvety cream cheese filling and sweet strawberries, then dipped in a rich custard and fried until golden and crisp.

Ingredients

Scale

The Sandwich Base

  • 8 thick slices brioche or challah bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for the skillet)

The Cheesecake Filling

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup strawberry preserves

The Custard Coating

  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons whole milk

Instructions

Mix Filling: Blend softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.

Assemble: Spread mixture onto 4 slices of bread. Layer with sliced strawberries and a dollop of preserves. Top with remaining bread and press firmly.

Dip: Whisk eggs and milk in a shallow dish. Dip each sandwich, soaking both sides and the edges for a few seconds.

Fry: Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Fry for 2–3 mins per side until deep golden brown.

Finish: Dust with powdered sugar while warm and serve immediately.

Notes

Low and Slow: Use medium-low heat so the brioche browns perfectly while the cream cheese center has time to become molten.

Bread Selection: Enriched breads like Brioche or Challah have a sturdy crumb that supports heavy fillings without tearing.

Fresh vs. Frozen: Fresh berries are essential; frozen ones release too much moisture during cooking, leading to a soggy interior.
