Description

Relive those sweet childhood memories of the ice cream truck with this incredibly easy Strawberry Crunch Topping! Made with just three simple ingredients, this buttery, crispy, and nostalgic crumble captures the iconic flavor of a strawberry shortcake bar. It’s the perfect, versatile topping to elevate cakes, cupcakes, ice cream, and any dessert that needs a touch of fruity, crunchy magic.

Ingredients

Scale

22 Golden Oreo cookies
1 (3 oz) package Strawberry Jello mix
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Prepare Your Cookie Base
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the Golden Oreo cookies into a food processor and pulse until they form coarse crumbs. Alternatively, place them in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin.

Combine and Mix
Transfer the cookie crumbs to a medium bowl. Sprinkle the strawberry Jello mix over the crumbs, then pour in the melted butter. Use a fork to mix until the crumbs are evenly moistened and begin to form small clusters.

Bake for Ultimate Crunch
Spread the mixture in an even layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until slightly toasted and fragrant. Let the topping cool completely on the baking sheet before handling; it will become significantly crunchier as it cools. Once cool, break it into your desired crumble size.

Notes

Don’t Skip Baking:
For the best flavor and a truly crispy texture, don’t skip the baking step. It toasts the butter and crumbs, creating a much deeper flavor.

Cool Completely:
Patience is key! The topping will seem soft when it first comes out of the oven. It needs to cool completely to room temperature to achieve its signature crunch.

Storage:
Store the cooled topping in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or in the freezer for up to two months for a last-minute dessert upgrade.

Variations:
Feel free to substitute Golden Oreos with Nilla Wafers for a more vanilla-forward flavor, or experiment with other Jello flavors like lemon or raspberry for a different fruity twist.
