Description

A comforting British classic featuring seasoned sausages and creamy mashed potatoes inside a large, crispy Yorkshire pudding. Accompanied by sweet caramelized onions, tender cabbage, and rich gravy, this hearty dish is perfect for family dinners and special occasions with a savory and sweet flavor blend.

Ingredients

Scale

5 sausages
4 large potatoes, peeled and chopped
2 tbsp butter
Splash of milk
1 onion
Sprinkle of brown sugar
2 cups chopped cabbage (or preferred amount)
Prepared gravy
2 Aunt Bessie’s Giant Yorkshire Puddings

Instructions

  1. Cook sausages: Air fry at 180°C for 20 minutes, shaking halfway, or bake in oven at 180°C for 25 minutes, turning once, until golden and cooked through.

  2. Prepare mash: Boil potatoes in salted water 15–20 minutes until tender. Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.

  3. Caramelize onions: Slice thinly and cook in oil over medium heat with brown sugar. Partially cover and stir frequently for 15–20 minutes until golden and sweet.

  4. Cook cabbage: Boil chopped cabbage 5–7 minutes until tender. Drain well and season with salt, pepper, and optional butter.

  5. Heat Yorkshire puddings: Follow package instructions until hot and crisp.

  6. Assemble: Fill each Yorkshire pudding with a generous scoop of mash, then layer sausages, caramelized onions, and cabbage inside or alongside.

  7. Serve: Pour hot gravy over the assembled dish and serve.

Notes

Use quality sausages for rich flavor.

Use a hand masher or mixer for fluffy mashed potatoes.

Stir onions frequently to avoid burning during caramelization.

Thoroughly drain cabbage to maintain texture.

Heat gravy before serving for best taste.
