Description
The definition of an easy, set-it-and-forget-it meal. This recipe uses tender chicken breasts, zesty ranch seasoning, and rich cream cheese to create a decadent, creamy filling perfect for toasted buns. Minimal prep, maximum flavor.
Ingredients
The Creamy Chicken Base
- 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 block (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1 packet (1 oz) dry ranch seasoning mix
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
For Serving
- 6 soft sandwich buns
- Optional: Lettuce, pickles, cheddar or provolone cheese
Instructions
Load: Place chicken breasts in the crock pot. Sprinkle ranch seasoning evenly on top.
Liquid: Pour in broth and place the softened cream cheese block on top of the chicken.
Cook: Cover and cook on Low for 6–7 hours (or High for 3–4) until fork-tender.
Shred: Shred the chicken directly in the pot with two forks. Stir into the sauce until fully coated.
Serve: Pile onto buns with desired toppings like lettuce and pickles.
Notes
The Softening Secret: Soften cream cheese for 30 mins before starting for a seamless melt without clumping.
Thaw First: For food safety, avoid starting with frozen meat to keep chicken out of the ‘danger zone’ (40°F–140°F).
Liquid Control: If the sauce is too thin, leave the lid off on High for 15 minutes to reduce.
