Description

This Crispy Taco Bell Mexican Pizza is a spot-on recreation of the fast-food classic. Using authentic Taco Bell ingredients, it features a protein-packed bean and beef filling sandwiched between ultra-crisp tortillas, topped with a zesty pizza sauce and melted 7-layer cheese.

The Filling

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 16 oz can Taco Bell refried beans
  • 1 oz packet Taco Bell taco seasoning (divided)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

The Pizza Sauce

  • 16 oz mild Taco Bell taco sauce
  • 1 cup diced tomato
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

The Build & Garnish

  • 20 thin flour tortillas (taco size)
  • 2 1/2 cups Taco Bell 7-layer shredded cheese
  • 12 cups diced tomato
  • 1 cup scallions, thinly sliced
  • Oil (for frying)

Instructions

Tortillas: Flash-fry tortillas in hot oil until golden and stiff. Drain on paper towels.

Filling: Brown beef and drain. Stir in refried beans, 2 tbsp seasoning, and water. Simmer until spreadable.

Sauce: Combine taco sauce, 1 cup tomatoes, remaining seasoning, chili powder, and sugar. Simmer for 5 mins.

Assemble: Spread 1/2 cup beef/bean mix on one tortilla. Top with a second tortilla, 1/4 cup sauce, and cheese.

Bake: Bake at 400°F for 3–5 mins until cheese bubbles. Top with tomatoes and scallions; slice into wedges.

Notes

Tortilla Selection: Use the thinnest flour tortillas to achieve that light, shattering crunch.

The Sauce Secret: Sugar and extra chili powder mimic the restaurant’s slightly sweet, concentrated pizza sauce.

Frying Temp: Aim for 350°F; oil that is too cold will result in greasy pizzas.
