  • 1 tbsp minced garlic, 1 tbsp parsley, 1 tsp red pepper flakes

The Garlic Cream Sauce (Final Bake)

  • 1/2 stick unsalted butter, 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan, 1 tbsp minced garlic, 1 tbsp parsley

Instructions

Cook Chicken: Sauté seasoned chicken in olive oil until golden. Remove but do not wash pan.

Butter: Slice loaf lengthwise and spread with the garlic butter mixture. Bake at 350°F for 5–10 mins.

Sauce: In the chicken pan, melt butter and sauté garlic. Stir in cream, Parmesan, and parsley; simmer until thickened.

Assemble: Spread half the sauce on bread, layer with chicken and mozzarella, and drizzle with remaining sauce.

Final Melt: Bake for 5 mins until cheese is bubbly. Slice and serve hot.

Notes

Capture the ‘Fond’: The brown bits left in the pan after cooking the chicken provide a concentrated umami base for the cream sauce.

The Sturdy Loaf Rule: Use Italian bread or a wide baguette; soft white bread will become soggy under the weight of the sauce.
