Description
These Cheesy Beef & Cheddar Sloppy Joes are a gourmet, drive-thru inspired twist on a classic. Combining savory ground beef with the tangy zip of Arby’s sauce and a velvety nacho cheese drizzle, they’re served on a toasted onion bun for the ultimate comfort meal.
Ingredients
The Sloppy Joe Meat
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup Arby’s sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1–2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- Spice Blend: 1/2 tsp salt/pepper; 1 tsp onion powder and paprika
The Assembly
- Onion buns, toasted
- Nacho cheese sauce, warmed
- Crispy fried onions
Instructions
Brown: Cook ground beef and onion in a skillet until meat is browned and onions are soft. Season with salt, pepper, onion powder, and paprika. Drain grease.
Simmer: Stir in garlic, Worcestershire, ketchup, mustard, and Arby’s sauce. Simmer on low for 2–3 mins until thickened.
Toast: Toast onion buns until golden brown.
Assemble: Scoop meat mixture onto the bottom bun. Top with crispy fried onions.
Finish: Drizzle with warm nacho cheese sauce, close the sandwich, and serve immediately.
Notes
Drain the Grease: Essential for a clean flavor, especially since the nacho cheese and Arby’s sauce are already quite rich.
The Bun Choice: Onion buns complement the savory spices and the crispy onion topping perfectly.
Toasting: Creating a toasted barrier prevents the sauce from soaking into the bread and making it soggy.
